In Brăila, an alert was triggered, after a military drone allegedly fell, on Thursday evening, on an agricultural land. The place where the alleged military drone landed is located on the Big Island of Brăila, at a distance of 8 kilometers from the municipality of Brăila and 23 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
The event took place after midnight, triggering panic among the locals. People came out of their houses scared by the loud noise. Local authorities quickly arrived at the scene of the incident and cordoned off the area. Images of a flying device, believed to be a military drone, have surfaced on social media.
People’s reactions were divided. “And during the day, there is a drone filming in the same area above the houses in the garden… in Brăila, I’ve seen it a few times…” said a man. Another man was not scared by what happened. He even joked about the incident. “I say call the FBI. See what they say,” he wrote in the comments section.

So far, local authorities have not provided official details about the incident or the origin of the drone. Contacted by phone, the prefect of Brăila county, Iulian Timofei, refused to comment on the incident. He explained that all information of a military nature is the responsibility of the Ministry of National Defense (MApN).
An independent official confirmation comes from the local newspaper “Ziarul Comunitatea”, which quotes the Romanian colonel Ștefan Stoian, the spokesperson of ISU Brăila. It was expected that people would call the emergency number 112, but this did not happen.
“It is the most serious incident for us, since the beginning of the war started by Russia against Ukraine, the event with the greatest penetration on Romanian territory. Until the analysis by the MApN, we do not speculate about the origin of the drone”, claim sources from the law enforcement, quoted by NewsPascani.
From September 2023 until now, several fragments of drones similar to those used by the Russian army have been discovered in Romania. The remains were discovered in various localities in Tulcea county.
