An ambulance driver suffered a stroke while on duty. A 57-year-old paramedic from the Rădăuți ambulance substation of SAJ Suceava suffered a stroke on Saturday while on a rescue mission, Monitorul de Suceava reports.

“The paramedic colleague saw that the paramedic was not changing gear and the engine was revving very fast, and when he asked him what was happening, thinking it was a technical problem, he realized that he could not articulate words correctly. He asked him to pull to the right. The stroke colleague was able to stop safely. The fellow nurse administered the medication and waited for the support crew. Later his condition worsened and surgery was needed. Now he is stable and we hope he recovers as quickly as possible”, said Robert Rotariu, the spokesman of the Ambulance union.

It is the third case of stroke among the employees of Suceava Ambulance

The spokesman of the union within SAJ Suceava emphasized that this is the third case of stroke among the employees of Suceava Ambulance, the first being a year and a half ago.

“We have serious health problems until the age of 56. We should be allowed to enjoy at least a few years of retirement, not be in wheelchairs or worse, dead before or just after retirement age, but unfortunately the law is suspended until the end of the year for fear that too many colleagues would leave the system”, said Robert Rotariu.
