Simona Halep (32 years old – WTA 1,149th place) will participate in the WTA 125 Trophee Clarins tournament that will take place in Paris from May 13-19.

The organizers of the tournament offered the athlete a wildcard, but initially it was not known exactly whether Halep would take part in the tournament due to injuries that deprived her of participation in competitions such as Oeiras and Madrid, where she was also offered invitations.

The WTA 125 Trophee Clarins tournament takes place two weeks before Roland Garros, a competition where Halep has expressed her desire to participate. In fact, Roland Garros is the last tournament on clay where the athlete from Romania played two years ago.

The Trophee Clarins competition will line up at the start 32 players will fight for a total prize of 115,000 euros. Among the participants are two other Romanians: Ana Bogdan and Jaqueline Cristian, but also players such as Leylah Fernandez, Sloane Stephens or Yanin Wickmayer.

Simona Halep’s name was officially announced on the competition’s website. It will therefore be the second game in which the athlete will perform after the suspension. In March, the Romanian was eliminated in the first round in Miami by the Spanish Paula Badosa.
