Jannik Sinner continued his fantastic season debut, managing to win the trophy at the ATP Masters 1,000 tournament in Miami (USA), in the final of which he beat the Bulgarian in two sets, 6-3, 6-1, on Sunday Grigor Dimitrov.

A first-time Grand Slam winner, the Australian Open, in January and then the ATP 500 in Rotterdam in February, Sinner has lost just one of his 23 matches in 2024 and climbed for the first time to the 2nd place in the world, surpassing the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz.

Nicola Pietrangeli, the statement of the day about Jannik Sinner: “Not even the devil would defeat him!”

Former world number 3, Nicola Pietrangeli, considered until recently the best Italian tennis player in history, declared himself extremely pleased with the developments of Sinner, who seems downright invincible for a few months now. The former player, now 90 years old, confidently says that Sinner is “already number 1” in men’s world tennis, without really having a rival.

“I think nowadays, to defeat Sinner, the devil himself has to come. And maybe he wouldn’t win anyway, because even the devil has some flaws, while the Sinner lacks nothing”, Pietrangeli said, according to Ubitennis. Furthermore, he added: “Jannik has everything, including enthusiasm and energy. He is a champion with capital letters. How can you not love a 22-year-old boy who plays well and is so kind and polite? Those who speak ill of him can only envy him…”.

After two failures in the finals in Miami, in 2021 (against the Polish Hubert Hurkacz) and 2023 (against the Russian Daniil Medvedev), Sinner lifted the trophy for the first time at the competition in Florida, also adding to his record his second title in the Masters category 1000, after the one conquered last year at the Canadian Open.
