False deaf mutes, begging in Bistrita! They were fined by the local police

--

Two young women from Ialomița, who claimed to be deaf and dumb, and who asked for money in the name of a charitable association, were fined on Saturday by the local policemen from Bistrita.

The two, residing in Bărbulești commune, Ialomița county, were identified in the parking lot of the Dedeman hypermarket, where they approached passers-by and tried to convince them to donate money for the construction of an “international and national center” for children with hearing and speech impairments.

“To impress potential donors and strengthen the appearance of legitimacy, the two young women pretended to be deaf-mute, only that, questioned by one of the local police officers, they miraculously began to hear and speak.

Following the checks carried out at the headquarters of the Local Police, the agents concluded that the pretext used by them was false, and their activity falls within the provisions of art. 2 point 3 of Law 61 of 1991, respectively the appeal to public mercy. As a result, they were fined 500 lei each, based on the above-mentioned normative act.

In October 2023, we exposed a similar case, carried out in the premises of a supermarket in the municipality.

We draw the attention, once again, to all people who want to help a cause presented by a representative of any association or NGO, to request additional information as well as tax documents certifying that they have donated”, the local police from Bistrita say.
