Moscow has asked Ukraine to hand over all people it says are linked to terrorist acts committed in Russia, including the head of the country’s SBU security service, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday. The SBU immediately dismissed the Russian request as “unnecessary” and pointed out that the Russian ministry had “forgotten” that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin was the subject of an international arrest warrant.

Russia has asked Ukraine to hand over the head of the SBU

07:34The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement listing several violent events that took place in Russia after the invasion began, including the bombings that killed Daia Dughina and war blogger Vladden Tatarski, claiming that “the traces of these crimes lead in Ukraine.

“Russia has forwarded to the Ukrainian authorities the requests … for the immediate arrest and extradition of all those connected with the terrorist acts in question,” the statement said, and among those whom Moscow wants to be handed over is the head of the SBU Vasil Maliuk.

Ukraine’s SBU reacted by saying that the Russian demand “sounds particularly cynical coming from the terrorist state itself. … Therefore, any words from the Russian Foreign Ministry are useless.” The SBU also mentioned the arrest warrant against Putin issued by the International Criminal Court in connection with the transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia, adding that “the Hague tribunal waiting for him”.
