You are not allowed, under any circumstances, to do such a thing in Romania

Prohibited in Romania! You get a fine of 5,000 lei if you do something like that. Several people in Romania have done something like this in their lives. However, some people were unlucky enough to be caught by the Local Police. Be very careful what you do now during spring cleaning.

Fine of 5,000 lei, if you leave your junk in the street

Fine for garbage thrown in the street! Those who live in Sector 6 Bucharest are warned about the problem of garbage on the sidewalks. Any resident of Bucharest who will be caught using the street as an illegal waste dump will be fined.

The City Hall of District 6 announced on its Facebook page that a 58-year-old man received a fine of 5,000 lei, after patrol agents caught him abandoning old objects in a public place. The objects, especially the old armchairs, turned Segarcea Street 1 into an unauthorized storage place.

The man had to pay a considerable sum, much more than it would have cost to have the items picked up by sanitation services. The service of picking up bulky objects can be requested for a fee of 130 lei, VAT included, for old furniture and other large objects. Instead, the fine received was 5,000 lei.

People had various reactions.

“The local police should come to Delinești Street no. 8, where there is a store in a garage, the people drinking there are talking very loudly,” someone wrote.

“Let’s see this too… For now, you are not interested in the garbage left by those who eat, drink, smoke, in the park or near the blocks, the lack of trash cans on the streets. So-called green spaces with trash covered by ivy.. etc. Good job…” said another person.

“Well done Congratulations and good luck in the future and have a great week and a nice weekend and have a happy Easter and happy holidays, God help everyone. West Side District 6 in Bucharest is The Best,” wrote someone else.

There are several legal options

“For old furniture, large packages, mattresses, sanitary items, bicycles, doors or windows, you can order a machine with a 3 cubic meter platform for 130 lei, VAT included. To schedule the pick-up, you must call Urban – 021.41.39.117 or 0757.024.222”, reminded the City Hall of Sector 6.

There is also an alternative legal option. During the last eight days of each calendar month, waste can be collected free of charge in several areas in Sector 3 Bucharest:
