A 35-year-old man from Ploiești was detained for 24 hours, being accused of pimping, following the searches that took place in the municipality on Tuesday.
He is accused that for a year, starting in March 2023, he recruited a 21-year-old young woman whom he forced into prostitution, after gaining her trust.

The services of the victim recruited by the “loverboy” method were promoted through advertisements published on the Internet, and clients were expected in various rented apartments within the municipality.
How the Loverboy Method Works
The “loverboy” method involves an interaction between the pimp and the victim before she is recruited. The girl is determined by the pimp to fall in love with him, most of the time he poses as a man with good intentions.
After he convinces the girl to start a relationship with him, the trafficker pushes the victim into the world of prostitution, there are cases where the girls who fell into the pimps’ net ended up selling their bodies to hundreds of men.
