The president of the Timiș County Council accuses the prefect of boycotting the process in which he contested the decisions on the distribution of amounts to the town halls. Mihai Ritivoiu only tells Alin Nica that the trial can be tried in absentia, and the postponement was decided by procedural issues.
At the beginning of the year, The Prefecture of Timiș contested, at the request of the PSD councilors group, the decisions by which the CJ Timiș distributed money for communal roads in the county, respectively the amounts for balancing local budgets. As this is an ongoing process, the money cannot be distributed to UATs.
The first term also meant the first postponement. “The Prefect of the PSD chooses to boycott this process, not appearing at last week’s deadline, following this line of pressure on the mayors for electoral purposes, to obtain votes for the PSD candidate in the June 9 elections for the county council. It’s an unacceptable matter, it shows a fantastic desperation of those from the PSD, to put dozens and dozens of communities that depend on this money coming from the CJ into insolvency. It seems to me a crime against the interests of these local communities, and to blackmail certain mayors with this money or with alleged additions seems to me again at the limit of common sense”declared, on Monday, Alin Nica, the president of the CJ Timiș.
“Fantastic despair? It will be, but not at the prefecture”
The next deadline is on June 13, i.e. after the local elections. Prefect Mihai Ritivoiu’s reply came after several hours, on Facebook, as the heads of the administration like it.
“Fantastic despair? It will be, but not at the prefecture. We are not running for anything (…) We did not send a representative to the trial because it was obvious that it would be postponed, as the procedure was not completed. But even without a representative of the prefecture, the case would have been tried, because we clearly specified that we request a trial in absentia”he transmitted.
“Mr. President Nica can unlock the situation (…) All he has to do is to issue a new county council decision in which to revoke the contested decisions and justify the distribution of the amounts, according to the law. It’s that simple. And it is so serious to bring an administrative, legal and institutional dispute into the sphere of political confrontation, which can be closed in a few days by the County Council! But why would you resolve the dispute, when it’s easier to torture the mayors and communes left without money, trying to turn them against the PSD prefect, and you to victimize yourself, because it’s still an election campaign and it’s good to fight the vile system?”Mihai Ritivoiu also wrote.
With 40 days before the local elections, it is increasingly clear that any topic, no matter how small, will be turned into a subject of public dispute, just to attract a few more votes.
