Enrollments in the Advanced Studies for Disadvantaged Students (SAP-ed) project, 14th edition, have begun. The Advanced Studies for Disadvantaged Students (SAP-ed) project is aimed at disadvantaged students who intend to apply for admission to the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași.

The students selected in the project will go through a FREE training program for 2 school years, in order to be admitted to higher medical studies. In the project, between March 21 and July 31, 2024, students who are in the 10th grade in the 2023-2024 school year and who come from families with a maximum income of 1000 lei/family member can enroll. Enrollment is done by submitting a file that will contain a certificate with the parents’ net income, a social survey if the parents are self-employed, a pupil/student certificate for brothers/sisters and a pupil certificate for the applicant.

“The SAP-ed project meant a 180-degree turn for the better in my life. As a child, on the benches of high school, I didn’t know where to start, I didn’t believe that I could dare to dream that I had any chance of getting admission to college, nor the resources necessary to prepare, let alone be able to pass with flying colors 6 years. I set myself a lot of obstacles in the form of personal fears, which the teachers gave me the strength to overcome. They were there whenever I needed them and responded “present” to several key events in my journey, including on a personal level. This is actually the miracle, that they did not take me by the hand and leave me at the gates of the faculty, but stayed by my side and beyond that. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for the model they outlined as a benchmark for me in how I would like to be for society. Exactly like you: dedicated, empathetic, persistent, loving to me, so that I can then convey the same feeling to those around me! Thank you!” – Ponor Adina-Diana, ATI resident doctor, beneficiary of the SAP-ed project. “The SAP-ed project was the chance of a lifetime for me. It gave me perhaps the only possibility to follow my dream and study Medicine. Professors Nedea succeeded, through this idea carried out with a lot of effort and dedication, to give the country dozens of passionate and hardworking doctors. When the system doesn’t help you, solutions come from unexpected places, from people themselves tried by life’s injustices. The SAPed project changes destinies.” – Gențiana-Maria Biliuță, 4th year Pneumology resident doctor, beneficiary of the SAP-ed project. The team that ensures the FREE training of the project’s beneficiary students is made up of 9 teaching staff from prestigious high schools in Iasi, such as “Costache Negruzzi” National College, “Mihai Eminescu” National College, “Dimitrie Leonida” Technical College and “Miron” Theoretical High School Costin”.

The project is implemented by professors Nița and Mircea Nedea, in partnership with the Association “Alexandru Ioan Cuza Nr. 20 Iasi”, the Iasi County School Inspectorate and the “Costache Negruzzi” National College Iasi. “SAP-ed is a soul project that marks a spiritual maturity of mine. When you reach a certain height of spirituality, you feel that it is necessary to give your neighbor from your excess. We are proud that through this project we managed to change destinies, free of charge, to return school dropouts to classrooms”. – Prof. Mircea Nedea, the initiator and coordinator of the SAP-ed project. The In-depth studies for underprivileged students (SAP-ed) project was started in 2011 by teachers Nița and Mircea Nedea, and until now it has managed to generate 100 graduates of higher medical studies, of which 90 are doctors, 2 physiotherapists and 8 nurses. In total, 307 students enrolled in the project, 144 of them graduated from the project’s courses and 134 were successfully admitted to college.
