The Bucharest Court accepted, on Friday, the DNA proposal for the preventive arrest of Cătălin Stănculescu, the director of the Energy Department of the Oltenia Energy Complex, accused of committing the crime of influence peddling and ordered his arrest for a period of 30 days, starting from from 26.04.2024 to 25.05.2024, inclusive.

The prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate – the Anti-corruption Section ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings and the detention for 24 hours, starting on April 25, 2024, of Cătălin Liviu Stănculescu, the director of the Energy Directorate of the Oltenia Energy Complex ( CEO) for committing the offense of influence peddling in continued form.
“The prosecutors’ orders state that, in the case, there are data and evidence that outline the following state of facts: During the period 25.07.2022-23.03.2023, at different time intervals, the defendant Stănculescu Cătălin-Liviu, in the mentioned capacity, would received directly, for himself, the total amount of 13,000 euros from the administrator of a company in contractual relations with the CEO (witness in question), giving the impression that he would have influence on the CEO Directorate, with powers in approving payments, and that will cause them to expedite the payment of the invoices issued by the businessman’s company in the shortest possible time from the date of their issuance”, the DNA press release states.

Also, the prosecutors instituted insurance measures on the bank accounts belonging to Cătălin Stănculescu to guarantee the special confiscation of the sum of 13,000 euros.

The anti-corruption prosecutors proposed a preventive arrest for a period of 30 days regarding the director of the Energy Directorate in CEO, and the Bucharest Court ordered his arrest for 30 days.

As a reminder, the DNA prosecutors carried out house searches in 7 locations located within the radius of the city of Bucharest and the counties of Sibiu, Gorj, Ilfov and Dolj, one of which at the CE Oltenia headquarters, the rest representing the homes of natural persons and employees of the energy company.
