10 hours of strong wind, tomorrow, in Giurgiu county
Giurgiu county will be under an orange wind code weather warning from tomorrow morning, from 08:00, until the afternoon, at 18:00. During this interval, there will be sustained wind intensifications, with speeds generally of 80-85 km/h.
In order to promptly manage emergency situations that could arise due to dangerous weather phenomena, firefighters will be on duty, ready to intervene with the technical means provided.
ISU Giurgiu notified the administrative-territorial units in the county about the forecasted meteorological phenomena and transmitted the measures that must be taken to prevent events that could endanger the safety of citizens or cause material damage.
Also, the operative group will be activated, with the provision of the reserve of personnel, so that the intervention forces can be supplemented, in case of emergency situations.
We recommend citizens to observe the following measures:
- be cautious when on the street and avoid moving into areas with billboards, trees or electricity poles that could be knocked down;
- do not pass by buildings under construction or that have architectural elements that can be blown away by the wind and do not take shelter near improvised constructions;
- park cars at a safe distance from trees or electricity poles;
- remove trees or dry branches, which during a storm, could fall and cause casualties or property damage;
- do not touch downed wires.
We remind you that, in strong wind conditions, the use of open fire in households is very dangerous and is also prohibited. The wind can spread the fire, in a very short time, to buildings, warehouses or even forests. To prevent fires, cigarette butts or matches should not be disposed of near haystacks or where feed, firewood, flammables or other combustible materials are stored.
