Android users can now download two apps simultaneously from the Google Play store

The Google Play Store app store introduces a much-awaited feature that allows two apps to be downloaded simultaneously, thus improving the experience of Android device users.

The feature is useful in scenarios where users are setting up a new phone or resetting an existing device, facilitating a much faster and more efficient process.

According to 9to5Google, the new feature was spotted in the Play Store version 40.6.31 available on Pixel devices running Android 14.

This update allows users to select and install two apps in parallel, eliminating the need to wait for one download to complete before starting the next. Thus, we are talking about a significant improvement over the previous system, which processed downloads sequentially.

The feature only applies to new app downloads

However, the feature has its limitations. Although two applications can be downloaded simultaneously, any additional applications selected for download will enter a waiting queue, to be processed only after the initial two have completed. It’s also important to note that this new functionality only applies to new app downloads, not updates to existing ones.

This optimization is a direct response to user feedback, who asked for a more efficient download process from the Google Play app store, especially in the context where modern phones are often used to manage a wide range of essential applications.
