For the first time, at the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) of Sibiu, searches took place in the offices of three officers from the institution’s management, suspected of disclosing secret service information to a former police officer dismissed from his position, who denigrates the current head of the IPJ Sibiu, the quaestor Tiberiu Ivancea, reports Agerpres.

“The case prosecutor, together with police workers from the Internal Control Department of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, supported by rapid intervention workers from the Special Actions Service of IPJ Sibiu, executed 4 home search warrants at the address in Sibiu municipality, Sibiu county, of a 47-year-old male, former police officer from the Road Bureau of the Sibiu Municipality Police, but also at the offices of three police officers from the Sibiu IPJ, suspected of committing the crime of disclosure of secret service or non-public information (…) in the case of the former police officer, and respectively disclosure of secret service or non-public information (…) in the case of the three police officers from the management of IPJ Sibiu”, the press release states Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sibiu Court.

The prosecutors claim that this former police officer of the Road Bureau, dismissed from his position, assigned himself “a role of an alleged judicial officer” and constantly denigrated the judicial bodies, public institutions, “by publishing on his own Facebook page, several data or information inconsistent with reality or even with real data and information, but which, through a tendentious interpretation, led to the shaping of a wrong public perception of states, situations or circumstances related to the normal functioning of the denigrated public institutions, especially institutions within the judicial system (police, prosecutor’s offices and courts)”.

“Essentially, benefiting from the service secret or non-public information allegedly provided without right by the three high-ranking police officers from the IPJ Sibiu regarding the planning of control activities within this police unit, the carrying out of some exams for the appointment of some officers to management positions, but also regarding the disciplinary investigations concerning certain policemen, the former traffic police officer from Sibiu, in the period February 2023 – April 2024, disclosed to the public such data and secret service information or non-public, by means of posts on their own Facebook page, accompanied by comments capable of outlining unreal states, situations or circumstances with the aim of denigrating the leadership of the judicial bodies”, the press release states.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Court in Sibiu, this former policeman also tried to denigrate the child of the head of the IPJ Sibiu, the quaestor Tiberiu Ivancea.

“In his attempt to denigrate the judicial system, the former policeman resorted to the creation of fictitious situations with implications on the prestige of the institutions, and his activity to come into contact with another former police officer and to cite alleged evidence to denigrate him is noteworthy the chief inspector of IPJ Sibiu in view of the existence of alleged deficiencies in the upbringing and education of his 15-year-old minor son. Thus, in the first decade of April 2024, the former traffic agent and the former officer of IPJ Sibiu agreed that the daughter of the latter, aged approximately 15 years, approach the youngest son of the chief inspector of IPJ Sibiu and collect different information from that minor in order to succeed in defaming the police chief”, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sibiu Court also states.
