“The Prahova County Committee for Emergency Situations requested the National Committee for Emergency Situations to authorize the Geological Institute of Romania to carry out studies and drilling in the affected area. The National Administration of Romanian Waters was also requested to make available to the CJSU all the data, plans, maps and information related to the water table in the locality and the underground waters”, the Prahova Prefecture sent.

The authorities in Prahova county have given assurances again that, after the crater formed by the collapse of the street was plugged, on Friday, the subsidence of the land in that area “is taking place in a normal dynamic”.

A part of 23 August street in the city of Slănic, Prahova county, collapsed on Thursday morning, April 25, with 42 people being evacuated from nearby buildings.

The authorities in Prahova county decided on Thursday, May 2, to evacuate another 16 people from another block of flats in the town of Slănic.

According to a preliminary report, the street collapsed due to water seepage from the ground.

The Prefect of Prahova County, Emil Drăgănescu, announced on Friday, May 3, that the filling operations of the crater on 23 August Street have been completed, and operations to compact the filling will be carried out later.
