An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 shook Taiwan on Wednesday, the strongest earthquake to hit the island in the last 25 years, reports Reuters. At least four people died and dozens were injured. A tsunami warning was issued for southern Japan and the Philippines, which was later lifted.

The Taiwanese government said four people died in Hualien, a mountainous and sparsely populated eastern county where the epicenter of the earthquake was located, and more than 50 were injured.
At least 26 buildings have collapsed, more than half in Hualien, and about 20 people are trapped under the rubble and rescue operations are underway, the government said.
Television stations in Taiwan showed images of leaning buildings in Hualien, where the quake struck just offshore at around 8:00 a.m. as people headed to work and school.
The quake struck at a depth of 15.5 km (9.6 miles), according to the Taiwan Central Meteorological Administration.
“It was very strong. It felt like the house was going to collapse,” said Chang Yu-Lin, 60, a hospital employee in Taipei.
Images of the moment the earth begins to shake have appeared on social media, captured by a dashboard camera mounted on a car traveling on a highway.
