They specify that the specialized outpatient clinic is equipped with the most efficient puncture system for transrectal and transperineal echo-guided MRI fusion prostatic biopsy.

It brings to the diagnostic balance a PI RADS score on the basis of which an echo-guided MRI fusion prostate biopsy can be indicated. This diagnostic protocol can prepare the patient for the oncological consultation with precise data related to the type of cancer, aggressiveness, exact location. After staging the extent of the disease, surgical treatment can be recommended in the localized forms, which consists in removing the prostate with the malignant lesion by classic radical prostatectomy/laparoscopic 3D or assisted by the DaVinci surgical robot, modern minimally-invasive treatments of the latest generation and high precision necessary for removal of cancer and preservation of functional results (urinary continence and sexual function)”, the announcement made by the ministry states.

According to them, the team currently active in the Urology department is made up of sub-lieutenant doctor Dr. Radu Aurel Maxim, primary urologist and senior medical assistant, Melania Șebu.

The compartment is equipped with KarlStorz Germany 3D video endoscopy and laparoscopy line, C-arm mobile beam semi-rigid fluoro-guided ureteroscopy and HD cystoscopy, bipolar resectoscope and bipolar electrocautery that allows plasma vaporization in saline environment.

In this regard, if you are over 45 years old and have had relatives diagnosed with prostate cancer, or you are over 50 years old even if you have not had any relatives previously diagnosed with prostate cancer, contact the urologist with a result of a summary urine sediment analysis, urea, creatinine and PSA (prostate-specific antigen) and see which screening method is indicated for you and which would be the best urological treatment according to your condition” is the common message of the members of the Urology section. Precise early diagnosis of prostate cancer with state-of-the-art technology in the Urology Department of the Emergency Military Clinical Hospital “Dr. Alexandru Augustin” from Sibiu”, says primary urologist Slt.
