The survey carried out by Sociopol commissioned by Romania TV shows that Nicușor Dan has a 15% lead over Piedone and Firea. “Yes, it is confirmed. Exactly as I suspected, even without measuring. Live on Romania TV, the renowned sociologist confirmed the split of the left-wing electorate in two at the moment, the possible changes being rather in favor of Piedone, who has a more applied electoral campaign, although Gabriela Firea’s discipline could mobilize party voters in a greater measure.

“At the moment, the interest in the elections in Bucharest is higher than before, we may have a higher participation than in 2000, it is possible that now it will be over 40%. “There are several tasty candidates, each of which attracts an electorate that was reluctant to participate in the vote until now. From a behavioral point of view, we have two equal camps, pro-PSD and anti-PSD. We have two globalist representatives, Nicusor and Sebastian Burduja. The first is above the USR, the second is below the party, percentage-wise. The other camp is divided between Firea PSD and Piedone. We don’t know if Piedone’s enthusiasm will prevail, or Gabriela Firea’s discipline. Together, the two have more than Nicusor Dan, but separately neither will reach much above 30%, and Nicusor Dan will win, even if it falls below 40%“, Mirel Palada commented on the Sociopol survey, live on Romania TV.

“In Bucharest there are three relatively well-defined electoral basins. About 45% pro-PSD. In the mirror, about 45% anti-PSD. The remaining 10% other miscellaneous. The withdrawal of Cîrstoiu from the race and the introduction of Firea and Burduja does not fundamentally change things from the point of view of the PSD PNL Alliance, the one that generated the movement, hoping to maximize the chances and expel Nicușor Dan from Bucharest City Hall. In the current configuration, Nicușor Dan still remains victorious.

The pro-PSD pool is roughly equally divided by Firea and Piedone. In the anti-PSD pool, Burduja snatches a maximum of a quarter of Nicușor Dan’s votes. So Nicușor Dan victorious. Simple, relentless arithmetic. Elementary, my dear Watson.
As a result, as long as there are two candidates of approximately equal electoral skill in the pro-PSD pool, the PSD candidate will not be able to collect all the votes from this pool, regardless of his skill or the efforts of local organizations to win the loyalty of PESEDists.
As long as Piedone does not withdraw from the race, Firea will lose to Nicușor Dan. And Burduja’s sacrifice will be a useless one.
