A young man from Botošan was admitted to a music college in London. It is about Mario-Ștefan Murariu, who will study at ICMP London Music College.

The native of Botoșan is a student in the twelfth grade at the “Mihai Eminescu” National College, and at the same time he takes singing classes at the Popular Arts School and has been singing for as long as he can remember. “I am a student in my last year at the Popular School of Arts where I went, secretly, for admission, almost three years ago, because my parents did not agree with this idea. When they heard about my success and the effort I put in, they supported me”says Stefan.

Preparation for college admission

Apart from his musical studies at the “George Enescu” Popular Arts School in Botoșani, Mario also trained, in parallel, with Neve, a singer from London.

About the tests he took for admission, the Botoşan says that everything was easy. “The tests consisted of an exchange of lines for about 40 minutes between me and the respective teacher to see how easily and quickly I could understand and answer in English certain personal and musical questions. Then I had some music theory questions,” says the young man.

The test at the university in London was concluded with two songs chosen by him, namely “Greedy” by Tate McRae and “Bridges” by Alika, the latter being the song that represented Estonia at Eurovision in 2023. Although he was admitted, Mario-Ștefan Murariu now depends on his Baccalaureate diploma, as he needs it before starting classes. “I am admitted conditionally, that is, if I do not take the Baccalaureate, I will be automatically rejected. That’s not the case with me because I don’t worry about this maturity exam. I can’t wait to give it away, so that I can get rid of unnecessary stress faster and be able to focus one hundred percent on the music”, said the Botoşan.

“They are qualified teachers”

He says that he chose to study in England because he feels that there is the most advantageous study offer. “They are qualified teachers, there is state-of-the-art equipment and, most importantly, the opportunities they can have because the music industry is very developed in London,” Stefan stated.

In addition to vocal technique courses, the faculty program also includes classes on the economics of the music equipment industry where the young person will learn how music is recorded in the studio. He will also go to all kinds of camps where the students will write songs with industry producers and people with higher education.

“I feel like I’m breathing through music”

The songs that Ştefan composes are of love directed towards the pop genre. He has written four albums and is now working on the fifth.

“Through each album I told a story, each track having a certain message. If one were to listen to the songs from each album in order, one would see that they form a story about a certain experience with a “Stefan also said.

At the moment, the albums are not available because he wants to get to London where he can use the equipment in the faculty. “I chose to make music because this is where I feel the best, I feel that this is what I was made for and I wouldn’t see my life without music. I feel like I breathe through music, as Roxen, one of my favorite singers, said.” concluded the man from Botoșan.
