Hundreds of students, participants in the “Romanian Culture and Spirituality” Olympiad

The Orthodox Theological Seminary “St. Andrew the Apostle” in Galaţi hosted, last week, the county stage of the national interdisciplinary Olympiad in Romanian language and literature and religion “Romanian Culture and Spirituality”, informs the Lower Danube Archdiocese.

The event began in the chapel of the educational institution, with the celebration of the Holy Liturgy, in the presence of His Eminence Father Casian, Archbishop of Lower Danube. The hierarch blessed those present and wanted to appreciate the interest that young people show in the two school subjects, Romanian language and literature and Religion.

“The Chiriarch of the Lower Danube held a dialogue of the soul with the students who came to the seminar to participate in the competition and offered them prayer books and icons. From the chapel, the assistant teachers together with the students went to the competition rooms, prepared for holding tests with subjects that had in mind the evaluation of the level of competences acquired through both formal and non-formal and informal education, and which aim at the ability to approach the proposed subject. The Lower Danube visited the competition halls to encourage them supports the young participants”, the press release states, in which it is specified that Brăila County was also the host of a similar Olympiad.

In total, over 600 students from Galati and Brăila counties participated in this school competition, from the 5th to the 12th grades.
