Not only did they have to play an official match on the first day of Easter, but Oțelul also lost the game, 1-2, on the ground of Petrolul Ploiești

The match itself was largely dominated by Dorinel Munteanu’s team, but several players seemed disconnected at the level desired by the coach of the Galatians. An unforgivable blunder by Jelev, a footballer who would be replaced after a few minutes in the second half (after another hesitation in defense), caused Musi to escape alone towards the goal of the Galatians. Although at one point it appeared that he extended his ball too much, the intervention of the goalkeeper Pap was irregular and was penalized. Grozav scored for 1-0, and in the next phase Petrolul had another great opportunity to score.

The game moved more towards the hosts’ goal, Oțelul being the team in control. After a goal correctly disallowed for offside, when Rusevic had executed Zima elegantly, the equalizing goal came. Maciel scored to make it 1-1 after a commendable collective phase, with Cisotti and Jelev in decisive combinations before the ball was launched into the box – from where the Portuguese crossed to score.

In the second half, Oțelul was also the more active team, but the ones who scored were the petrol players

Berisha deflected Țicu’s shot from near Pap’s goal, from the edge of the box. The Galatians were a few minutes before the goal with one less man on the field. There was no elimination, but Alex Pop got injured and could not continue the game, shortly after the technical staff had started to make all the changes. Coach Dorinel Munteanu was not interested in managing any player, so he sent the standard formula from the available squad: Pap – Jelev, Yabre, Cisse, Miguel – Cisotti, Zivulic, Lameira – Maciel, Rusevic, Bodișteanu.

They also entered: Adăscăliței, Pop, Malle, Neagu, Tănasă.

The failure endangers the chances of the Galatians to finish first in the play-out, remaining at the rate of 33 points. Now the results from the matches in Arad and Sibiu are also awaited, to see what chances are left for the 7th place. In the last stage of the Super League, Oțelul will play at home, on Sunday (9:30 p.m.), against FC Botoșani . Then, three days away, the Romanian Cup final will take place in Sibiu, Corvinul – Oțelul.
