Anti-corruption prosecutors have extended the preventive measure of judicial control against the president of the Prahova County Council (CJ), Iulian Dumitrescu, by another 60 days, judicial sources told AGERPRES on Thursday.
According to them, Dumitrescu’s sister and brother-in-law, investigated in the same file, are still under judicial control.
Iulian Dumitrescu is being investigated by anti-corruption prosecutors for bribery and false declarations and is prohibited from exercising his position as president of CJ Prahova.
Also under judicial control, two other people are being investigated in this case, Dumitrescu’s sister, for complicity in bribery and forgery in documents under private signature, and his brother-in-law, for complicity in bribery and forgery in statements.
“The defendant Dumitrescu Iulian, with the help of the natural person from point 3 (Dumitrescu’s cousin – no) allegedly claimed, between November and December 2022, to a businessman the purchase in exchange for the amount of 47,500,000 lei of the company’s shares owned by the natural person from point 3 to a commercial company, value overestimated compared to their real value, in connection with the performance of the duties as president of the Prahova County Council and would have been received by 04.12.2023, with the help to the 2 accomplices, the total amount of 16,210,000 lei. One of the businessman’s companies would have had a contract with CJ Prahova at the time of the claim, and after the acquisition of the company from the individual from point 3, a new works contract with the beneficiary CJ Prahova would have been assigned to him “, stated DNA in a press release.
