Among the 108 graduates – 98 boys and 10 girls – the head of promotion, Paul Meseșan from Cluj, stood out, both by the average obtained, 9.52, and by his troubling life story. This also impressed the officials of the Border Police, who included it in a post published on the page of the national institution.

A hug is worth a thousand words

The one who is now considered the “tip of the spear” of the last promotion from the Border Police School in Oradea is 26 years old and was raised only by his mother, not knowing his father.

“A graduate of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca, his hometown, Paul felt that it was not what suited him, and in an attempt to help his mother, he had a work experience in England. Homesickness and love of country brought him back to his native lands. Against the background of the insecurity generated by the pandemic, he tried to find a stable job, but he did not succeed”, the representatives of the Border Police wrote on Facebook.

Under these conditions, Paul chose to enroll, last year, in the courses of the “Avram Iancu” Oradea Border Police Agent Training School. “The road to success was also strewn with obstacles, ranking last in a first test in school representing the motivational spring that propelled him to first place, becoming head of promotion,” the post says.

At the celebration of taking the oath of allegiance and the awarding of the first professional degree, Paul Meseșan thanked his grandparents and his mother who only found out at the celebration that her son is head of promotion. The image with the young agent hugging his emotional mother was published on the page of the Border Police: “We wish him a brilliant career in the big family of the Romanian Border Police, and from now on you can meet him at Cluj Napoca International Airport.”

Six months, as beginners According to a press release from the Border Police, agents Andrei Timofte (9.40) and Ioan Bogdan Tomoioagă (9.35) ranked next in order of averages. The first five graduates received diplomas of merit, and the head of promotion was also rewarded with the inscription of his name on the institution’s honor plate.

The director of the Border Police Agents Training School, chief commissioner Aura Sima, wished the young people “success at the beginning of their beautiful career as guardians of legality, order and public peace at the country’s borders”.

The undersecretary of state from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Petru Bledea, and the deputy general inspector of the Romanian Border Police, quaestor Daniel Tache, were also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

The graduates were assigned, in the order of their backgrounds and based on each one’s options, to the territorial inspectorates of the Border Police, the Coast Guard and the airport checkpoints, where they will work for the first six months as rookies.
