11 people who participated in the Sunwaves festival in the Mamaia resort are being investigated for drug trafficking, quantities of various prohibited substances being found on them, according to news.ro. Six of the persons, foreign citizens, were pre-arrested for 30 days.

The Police Inspectorate of Constanţa County reported on Saturday, through a press release, that the policemen of the Constanţa Organized Crime Brigade, together with the prosecutors of DIICOT – Constanţa Territorial Service, are investigating 11 people, participants in a festival taking place in the Mamaia resort , for committing the crimes of international high-risk and high-risk drug trafficking, high-risk and high-risk drug trafficking and illegal possession of high-risk drugs for personal consumption.

“From the investigations, it emerged that the suspects would have introduced into Romania, transported, stored and possessed significant quantities of high-risk and high-risk drugs, for the purpose of commercialization during a festival taking place in the resort of Mamaia, Constanța county, on the 27 April, at different times and in different locations, being caught, in flagrante delicto, while selling such substances. Also, they would have promoted the sale of drugs through messaging applications, specifying the prices for each type of drug”, the statement reads.

The cited source mentioned that four house searches were carried out and 300 ecstasy tablets, 70 2 CB (“pink cocaine”) tablets and 100 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of ketamine, 10 grams of hashish and 10 doses of methamphetamine.

Six foreign citizens were detained for 24 hours, being presented to the Constanța Court, which decided on their preventive arrest for 30 days.

Constanța City Hall also announced on Saturday that two men from Bucharest were caught by the Local Police while selling drugs in the area of ​​the Sunwaves Festival in Mamaia.

“The high-risk drugs offered for sale were hidden/stored in a Volkswagen Passat car. The persons were intercepted, registered and taken to the headquarters of DGPL Constanța for the preparation of the procedural documents necessary to submit the file to the institution empowered to take legal measures”, the Constanţa City Hall transmitted.

The Constanţa Gendarmerie had announced on Friday that 22 people who wanted to enter the festivals taking place at this time on the coast were found with drugs on them.

During the May 1 mini-holiday, several musical events take place on the seaside, including the Beach, Please festival, which takes place in Costineşti, and Sunwaves, the electronic music festival in Mamaia.
