Only 20 years old, student of Dental Medicine and a future in front of his eyes. And yet he chose death. Vlad committed suicide by jumping from the 3rd floor of the “St. Spiridon” from Iași, where he was hospitalized following a colon surgery.

The incident took place on April 18, and the young man left behind no farewell note to explain his fatal gesture. Colleagues of the young man say that he was suffering from megacolon.

“He was diagnosed with megacolon, he had an operation as far as I know. From what I’ve heard, he killed himself after having a colostomy, a collecting bag, put on him. Nothing is known exactly,” a Dental Medicine student told BZI.

“The incident happened two weeks ago. It is about a 20-year-old student, who was hospitalized at the Surgery Clinic of the County Emergency Clinical Hospital «St. Spyridon”. He had a serious condition, but it was not a neoplasm. We can’t say it was a suicidal act because he didn’t leave a goodbye note. Colleagues intervened, but despite all efforts, the patient died,” said Prof. Dr. Diana Cimpoeșu, spokesperson for the “St. Spyridon”.

What the police say

On April 18 this year, the police were notified, through SNUAU 112, about the fact that a young man, a patient admitted to a hospital in the city of Iași, threw himself into the void from the 3rd floor of the building. The police officers dispatched to the scene found that the reported cases are confirmed, as it is a 20-year-old man. An order was issued to perform a medico-legal necropsy in order to establish the cause of death. In the case, a criminal case was drawn up under the aspect of committing the crime of manslaughter.
