The drivers’ suspicion would be that the accident occurred because of the new device, but later, images appeared of the moment when the driver seems to have lost control of the car.

The smart speed limiter is a pilot project

The bumper was recently installed and, according to Pro Tv News, drivers are warned to follow this speed limiter from more than 150 meters.

The device, when it detects a speed greater than 30 kilometers per hour, rises to 6 centimeters. It goes down if drivers fall within this limit.

  • Driver: “I now saw when the motorcycle passed me, that it raised up and dropped down. So it’s based on speed. Very good, that’s a good thing especially here at school.”

At the same time, pedestrians have a button they press when they want to cross the street safely, and the limiter rises.

Mihai Anghel, the mayor of Snagov commune, stated the following:

There is a “Caution, pedestrian crossing” area on the roadway. A sensor is mounted in the asphalt exactly there. If it respects the speed, forget it respects it, lights up green, starts to lower the bumper, the traffic participant passes without any problem. Someone came at a very high speed, even with a jeep and than ran over him, it’s really not ok for the car, but the car kept its normal trajectory.

This technology comes from Mexico. It was brought to Europe by a Romanian. The installation of the intelligent speed limiter in one direction would entail a cost of 130,000 lei. The device in Ghermanesti was installed free of charge, as part of a pilot project.
