Outrageous case in Gorj! An alcoholic father and a mother with mental problems sold their own child, who had just turned 6, to a family in Germany! For 8,000 lei and a few bottles of liquor, they smuggled him into the country and abandoned him as if he were an object. The situation came to light these days, when the German authorities studied the documents of the little boy.
At a time when 1 out of 5 couples in Romania struggle with infertility and would do anything to have a child, the Gorje parents saw even 2,000 euros as a more important sum than their son. The luck of the little one is that the Germans notified the Romanian state and started, as a matter of urgency, an investigation. The victim was picked up by the authorities on April 18, through the Regensburg Youth Social Service and is due to arrive in Romania.
Moreover, it has come to light that the victim is not the only child of the family! He has two other brothers, 2 years and 8 months old and one 8 years old.
“This stage does not mean the formulation of accusations against a person/s, but establishes the procedural framework necessary to gather evidence for the correct and complete establishment of the state of facts that will allow the adoption of a legal and thorough solution in the case,” a statement reads issued by DIICOT.

The Ministry of Family intervenes in the case of the child sold in Gorj
During a televised intervention, the Minister of the Family, Natalia Intotero, said that it was she herself on Thursday, April 26, in Gorj, to ensure that the brothers of the sold boy were taken to the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection. The little ones would get the best care now, after going through a downright traumatic situation. The minister also said that he requested the intensification of efforts to bring the child from Germany to Romania.
With the sale of the minor, it came to light that the parents were in trouble with the law before, but no one took action. The police had opened a criminal case against them for domestic violence, as a result of alcohol consumption. Even the neighbors knew that the family was dysfunctional, but they were accomplices through complete silence.
