Daniel Baciu, the president of the National Public Pensions House, announced what will happen to Romanians’ pensions at Easter.

Romanians are holding their breath because they don’t know if they will receive their pensions before Easter.

But the authorities say there is no cause for concern.

Minister of Labour, announcement about pensions

The Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura-Oprescu, showed that through the government decision adopted on Thursday, the procedures can be triggered in April, so that the pensions can be transferred before Easter.

“Today we have two normative acts that facilitate the possibility of giving pensions to Romanians before the Easter holidays. The two are a GD and, respectively, a memorandum.

The government decision is the one that allows us to trigger the institutional procedures in April, so that the money is transferred on time both to the Romanian National Post Company, which delivers almost half of Romanians’ pensions through postal factors, and to feed the accounts of commercial banks with which the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, respectively the National Pension House has conventions, the 22 banking institutions, so that they, in turn, can make transfers to Romanians before the Easter holidays.

Our estimates are that both the Romanian Post Office and the banking institutions will fall within the schedule we agreed upon, a situation in which all Romanians will receive their pensions before Easter.

The date on which they will receive them on the account is May 2-3, instead of May 12, the date we had in the convention, and the date on which the postal factors will deliver the pensions, up to and including May 3,” said Simona Bucura-Oprescu, according to Agerpres.

Daniel Baciu, important announcement about pensions

The news was also confirmed by the Head of the National Public Pension House.

“Things are very clear. We have an agreement concluded with the national company Poșta Română. May 2nd is a working day for postal workers, so on May 2nd pensions are distributed, and then the pension distribution schedule continues until of May 15, as is very clearly specified in the agreement concluded with the national company Poșta Română.

Every month, we are not just talking about May, between the 1st and 15th of each month, pensions from the public system are delivered. If those days are free, they must recover, so that by the 15th, all pensions will be paid,” Daniel Baciu told DC News.

“We fed the CNPR accounts with the money related to the pensions for the month of May, so that on May 2, they must deliver the pensions”, he says.

Moreover, the head of the Pension House claims that the transfer of money to the Romanian Post is made in three installments, the first being made five days before the end of the month.

“Five days before the start of the next month. Now, by April 26, we have to transfer the first installment for May, which is 50% of the entire amount. The next installment is sometime in the first working days of May, when we transfer another 40% of the amount, and the last 10% remains to be delivered around the 9th of the month, so they must always have a continuity, in the interval 1-15 to deliver all the pensions. This is the schedule that we we have concluded it with the Romanian Post, through a legal act, it is a convention in which both the payment terms to them, as sums of money, and the payment of pensions to pensioners are stipulated.

This problem always happens when there are days off, at Easter, Christmas or New Year holidays. But know that it is never too late. The National Post Company needs to recover these days off so that when we close on the 15th of the month, everyone gets their pensions. Because not everyone has to receive their pension on the 1st or the 2nd. They have a 15-day window in which, if somehow there are three days off, when they enter the fourth they have to recover and pay the pensions, so as to respect the interval they have to respect by the Convention concluded with us.

On May 2, the factors will try to pay as many pensions as possible, both those on 2, 3 and 4. So there is no problem of pensions being late, there is no such thing”, the head of the National House also said of Public Pensions.
