A teenage girl in California was killed by the very police who were trying to save her

Savannah Graziano, a 15-year-old California teenager, was killed in 2022 by the police who intervened to save her. The incident took place two years ago, but the video recording what happened then was only recently made public.

The young woman had been kidnapped by her father, and the girl’s death occurred during the pursuit by the police of the car driven by the father, according to News.ro, which quotes AFP.

The girl’s father, Anthony Graziano, kidnapped the teenager after killing her mother the day before. The young woman was in the car with her father, in the passenger seat. During the pursuit, several shots were fired from the van. After a chase at speeds of up to 175 km/h, the van driven by the father stopped.

In the video made public, Savannah Graziano appears getting out of the passenger seat and walking towards an agent who asks her to say, according to the recording, “Come here! Come to me! Come, come, come (…), go, go, go, go”.

In parallel, a radio message from the helicopter warns the agents on the ground about the presence of the teenager. “The girl is outside (…). She’s out on the passenger side,” warns the helicopter over the radio.

In the video recording, the teenager first crouches down for a few seconds, after which she gets up and walks towards the police group.

Then, a gunshot is heard, and the voice on the radio says “Oh, no!”. “Stop!” the agent calling the girl shouted to his colleagues. “Stop shooting. He’s in the car.”

Savannah Graziano received medical attention but died at the hospital. The girl’s father was killed on the spot, firearms, bulletproof vests and several cartridges being found in his car.
