Putin signed a new decree on the biannual military recruitment

All men in Russia between the ages of 18 and 30 are required to do a year’s military service or equivalent training during higher education from the age of 18, it says Reuters agency.

Compulsory military service has long been a sensitive issue in Russia, where many men make efforts to avoid conscription during the two semi-annual conscriptions.

From a legal point of view, the recruitments cannot be carried out to fight outside Russia and were exempted from the limited mobilization from 2022, when at least 300,000 men with previous military training were sent to fight on the frontline from Ukraine, the source said. .

The last recruitment decreed by Vladimir Putin took place in September last year, when 130,000 people were called up for compulsory military training.
