The local authorities in Prahova believe that a possible cause of the collapse of the Slănic street could be the infiltration of water into the salt soil in the locality. Meanwhile, the crater began to enlarge. A tree has slid into the water-filled pit, another fir tree is about to fall, as well as an electricity pole that has been disconnected from the electricity grid.

Vergiliu Nanu, director of the County Cadastre Office and PSD candidate for the headship of the Prahova County Council blames the gas works done this winter.

“No geo-technical studies were done”, claims Nanu who blames the PNL president of CJ Prahova, Iulian Dumitrescu.

“All winter there were ditches full of water here,” he says.

From December to March. We made a lot of complaints, says the mayor of Slănic, Costea Dăneluș.

For his part, Florin Chipeșiu, the director of Salina Slănic and local PSD councilor, says that a possible cause of the surprise could be the infiltration of water into the salt soil.

On Thursday, a portion of the roadway of 23 August Street in the town of Slănic collapsed, forming a two-meter crater, which is now deeper.

As early as Thursday, the authorities installed witnesses in the affected area to indicate if new ground movements are occurring.

So far 42 people have been evacuated from nearby buildings. Two families were accommodated in boarding houses in the locality, with which the local public authorities concluded a protocol.
