BTI: Borrell on CNN, hallucinatory statement: We don’t love Ukrainians, we just follow our own interests!

This stunning statement was made by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on a CNN show yesterday.

So amazing that I considered it possibly fake news until checking directly at the source. The video recording cannot be accessed, instead I found the audio recording on the same site and, surprise: the statement is real.

What Borrell said on Christiana Amanpour’s show:

“We cannot let Russia win this war. Otherwise, the interests of the United States and Europe will suffer greatly. It’s not just about generosity. It’s not about supporting Ukraine because we love Ukrainians. It is about our own interests. And it is also in the interest of the United States as a global actor that wants to be seen as a responsible partner that ensures the security of its allies. We therefore call on the US to unblock and approve additional assistance.”

The Kremlin’s reaction has already come, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, declaring that “it is the first time that a representative of the Western regimes speaks so honestly about the essence of what is happening”.

Even more strangely, news of Borrell’s shocking statement is absent from the Western mainstream press, especially the American one.

A blunder of proportions by the European High Representative? Or is something being deliberately pursued that so far escapes our understanding?
