The Supreme Court of Justice, in pronouncement in the case of former senator Gigi Chiru!

• The Constanța Court of Appeal upheld, by rejecting the declared appeals, the decision of the Constanța Court, which ordered the termination of the criminal proceedings against Gigi Christian Chiru, for committing the crime of manslaughter, prev. of art. 192 para. 1 and 2 of the criminal code, through the intervention of the prescription of criminal liability.

The judges from High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania have completed the specific research in the file where the former senator Gigi Christian Chirufrom Constantis trying, through an extraordinary action, to re-judge the case in which he was accused of manslaughter.

According to the court portal, Supreme Court will be pronounced on April 11, 2024.

We remind you that on August 17, 2023, Constanța Court of Appeal upheld, by rejecting the stated appeals, the decision Constanța Courtof October 19, 2022, which ordered the termination of the criminal proceedings against him Gigi Christian Chiru, for committing the crime of manslaughter, prev. of art. 192 para. 1 and 2 of the criminal code, through the intervention of the prescription of criminal liability.

Also in this file, and towards Cristian Valentin Smădualso accused of manslaughter, the court terminated the criminal trial, by the intervention of the prescription of criminal liability.

According to official data, the former senator Gigi Christian Chiru and Cristian Valentin Smădu were obliged, by Constanța Court of Appealjointly and severally, upon payment to the civil parties of the amount of 12,323.33 lei as material damages and 235,000 lei as moral damages.

SPECIFICATIONS:
