Oro Valley Urgent Care celebrates 1-year anniversary | Features

Family nurse practitioner Beth Brown is proud to say that Oro Valley Urgent Care is the only locally owned and operated urgent care in Oro Valley, if not the entire Northwest Tucson. While the name is sometimes confused with other local health organizations, Oro Valley Urgent Care is not affiliated with any corporate facilities.

Now celebrating its first anniversary, Brown is appreciative of the support the community has shown. “Once they see us, they return for any future needs,” she said. This is quite a compliment for a 1-year-old business. Oro Valley Urgent Care has also partnered with several local businesses for workers’ compensation care and with local schools for sports physicals for student-athletes.

Some of the common conditions treated at Oro Valley Urgent Care are allergies, rashes, coughs, colds, flu, COVID-19, strep and other normal illnesses. They also offer on-site X-rays to help expedite the diagnosis and treatment of injuries.

“We also address some primary care issues,” she said. “We refill medications, perform some testing and help patients navigate health concerns and medical conditions.

“Primary care is somewhat challenging to access in our area, as patients often find their primary care office is booked for weeks, sometimes months, in advance. We can help bridge that gap.”

Oro Valley Urgent Care recently obtained accreditation from the Urgent Care Association of America. It is the only accredited emergency care in Southern Arizona.

“As part of the accreditation criteria, we were required to raise the bar, ensuring that we are providing the highest level of safety measures and quality of care to our patients,” Brown said. “We strive to bring the best care possible to our neighbors and surrounding communities. We have the most amazing staff and our team works diligently to serve our patients.”

When asked what has been one of the biggest challenges during the first year, Brown said “insurance.”

“While we accept most insurance plans, some insurance companies are still choosing to isolate small businesses,” Brown said.

“For example, two carriers said they wouldn’t contract with us because we don’t have the backing of a corporation. It’s just wrong. They should allow their clients to receive care wherever they want to be seen.”

Brown prides herself on being upfront and honest about her treatment and care. “People can reach out to me directly and I will respond,” she said. “We’re here to serve our neighbors.”
