John Higgins has qualified for the last 16 of the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible, with the Scot beating Jamie Jones (ranked 41st in the world) 10-6.

John Higgins, in the eighth – Interesting duel with Mark Allen

Aged 48, John suffered only in the first part of the duel, being led 3-1 at one point by his Welsh opponent.

However, thanks to his experience, he managed to balance the game, and from 4-3 in his favor (when he first took the initiative) he was permanently in the lead.

The victory (10-6) is a well-deserved one, and now for the so-called “Wizard from Wishaw” there is a match that promises to be spectacular against Mark Allen, the third player in the world.

We remind you that John Higgins won the Crucible trophy four times, the last time in 2011 (he prevailed in the 1998, 2007, 2009 and 2011 editions).

“I’m delighted, Mark (No Allen) is maybe the best in the world at the moment. He has incredible quality, he is very difficult to play against and he is desperate to win the World Championship.

We’ll see how they do, it’s going to be an interesting contest, they’re playing best 25, some games are over 3 days. It will be an extremely interesting confrontation” – John Higgins for Eurosport.
