Two weeks ago, you could read on digisport.ro the notification that was on the table of the National Audiovisual Council (CNA)in which a decision was requested by which the name “Bucharest” to no longer be associated with CSA Steaua.

On April 25, came the official response from the CNA. The National Broadcasting Council rejected the request, thus there is no impediment in adding the name “Bucharest” to the name of CSA Steaua.

CNA’s answer came: CSA Steaua can be called “CSA Steaua Bucharest”

Mr. Gregory,

The National Broadcasting Council received your notification, which was registered with no. 3886 / 28.03.2024.

We appreciate that the issues raised by virtue of correctly informing the public and the request to “ban” the mention of the name of Bucharest when CSA Steaua athletes are mentioned “in the media” exceed both the regulatory powers and those of post-broadcast control over the content of audiovisual programs , which the Council can exercise, these being limited to the framework established by the Audiovisual Law no. 504/2002, with subsequent amendments and additions.

Thus, CNA’s competences refer to the actual audiovisual content, broadcast to the public by media service providers.

You can find out about the normative acts that regulate the activity of the institution, on the website www.cna.ro, under the heading “Legislation” – Section “Audiovisual”.

Maria Monica Gubernat

chairman”, says the CNA response.

How the notification made to the CNA looked

Over time, several notifications made to the CNA have brought decisions by which the “Star” can no longer be used in references to the FCSB, made on TV stations. Now, on the table of the National Audiovisual Council was a notification in which it was requested to ban the affixing of the name “Bucharest” to CSA Steaua.

I am reporting this because this club is subsidized by the Ministry of National Defense and represents the Romanian Army, not a locality of the country! Therefore, this club is not only of Bucharest, but of the whole of Romania.

In fact, that is exactly why, since its establishment and until today, the Ministry of National Defense, the owner of the club, has never used the name ‘Bucharest’ in its official name”it is said, among other things, in the notification signed by GGF.

AS47 claims, in a statement, why it is normal for the name “Bucharest” to be linked to “CSA Steaua”

After the appearance of the text of the notice sent to the CNA, “Association of Stelistilor 1947” (AS47.ro) sent a statementwhich you can read next:

The sports press picked up a new apparently irrelevant news: The undersigned GGF, the author of the request cited by Digi Sport, declares that he no longer wants the team to be called Bucharest, because the club is subsidized by MAPN, not by a specific locality in the country. Perhaps the gentleman is not aware, but it should have been known that adding the name of a locality to the name of the team is to indicate the location where it operates, has its headquarters and stadium. In the present case, Bucharest for Steaua, an aspect that was not respected with the same strictness by the FRF when another club moved its headquarters outside Bucharest and should have changed its name to Berceni or Mogoșoaia. It is about FC FCSB, which seems to have violated line 2 of article 2 of the FRF regulation: ‘The name of the club cannot include the name of a town other than the one where the club has its headquarters’.

Moreover, on this occasion, maybe the officials of the Steaua Bucharest club will understand that they can be called simply “Steaua Bucharest”, according to line 7 of article 2: ‘Clubs may request, following the procedure set out in article 4 of this regulation, participation in competitions organized by FRF/LPF under the name of a registered trademark, over which the respective club has the right to use. The use of a trademark for advertising purposes for a sponsor or commercial partner of that club is prohibited. It is also forbidden to use a brand that contains the name of a town other than the one where the club has its registered office. We’ve been repeating the same thing for years!’ Let’s go back, this news was sent to the newsrooms by the same individual who fabricated the famous fake letter from UEFA. The publication of such news, which brings nothing new but confusion, should also give us the right to reply.

According to all legal courts, the brand ‘Steaua’ belongs to the Army Sports Club, and this name cannot be used by anyone without their consent. According to the Court of Appeal decision, which continues to be ignored by the media to protect a club with a criminal record:

  • Steaua Army Sports Club: 20 Romanian championships, 19 cups, two Romanian Supercups, the European Champions Cup and the European Supercup.
  • AFC Steaua: one Romanian championship, one Romanian Cup and two Romanian Supercups.
  • FALSE: The team with which a group of convicts cheated the entire community of microbists: 5 championships, two Romanian Cups and two Romanian Supercups.
  • FC FCSB, the team from 2017, holds a Romanian Cup in the 2019-2020 season and of course the prestigious Corendon Cup in 2021. As the Army Sports Club owns the “Steaua Bucharest” brand, they can apply to the FRF to be registered only with this brand, so that there are no more interpretations. Also, according to those from the CNA, it would be advisable for journalists to use the name of the clubs with which they are registered with the FRF, as a result it should be written ‘SC Fotbal Club FCSB SA’ if the full title is always used for Steaua, respectively CSA Steaua . We will make a special request to the CNA so that there is not also a recommendation for commentators, as happened in the case of Stella.

Thank you!“, it is written in the statement.
