The delegation bringing the Holy Light from Jerusalem is led by Father Archimandrite Teofil Anăstăsoaie, the Superior of the Romanian Patriarchate’s Settlements at the Holy Places, who for 15 years has had the mission of bringing the Light from the Holy Land.

The Holy Light will be offered to the delegates of the dioceses present at Otopeni Airport.

The Holy Light brought from Jerusalem will be taken through the deanery, to each parish.

And this year, the Holy Light will be taken, by means of a delegate of the Metropolis of Moldavia and Bucovina, from Bucharest to Chisinau, where it will be offered to the parishes of the Metropolis of Bessarabia.

The tradition of bringing the Holy Light from Jerusalem was inaugurated by Father Patriarch Daniel in 2009.

On Saturday evening, around 19.00, the Holy Light will be received at the Patriarchal Cathedral by His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel.

Most Reverend Father Varlaam Ploieşteanu, patriarchal vicar bishop, sent a message after the Holy Light was brought from Jerusalem.

“We thank God that this year too, on the celebration of the Resurrection of His Son, in addition to the Light and joy of the celebration, He also offered us this special gift, the Holy Light, which lights up in a wonderful way on the Eve of the Resurrection of the Savior at St. His tomb from life maker from Jerusalem. We thank God for this beautiful weather. After 2-3 days of cloudy weather, with rain, the sun shines again and this teaches us that the Light of Christ, the sun before the sun, and the Light of the Sun built by God gives and illuminates everyone and is the duty to clean the windows of our souls, to open the doors of our houses to the sunlight and especially to the Light of Christ to enter and bring His Heavenly presence”, said the vicar bishop.
