The latest IRES survey, conducted on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Romania’s accession to NATO, shows that the vast majority of Romanians consider it a good thing that our country is part of the strongest military alliance. At the same time, 36% of those who responded to the survey are worried that in the coming years Romania could be
involved in a military conflict.

The IRES survey, carried out between March 24-27, shows that for Romanians, the concern about the risk of our country being involved in a military conflict is among the main concerns, after poverty and the cost of everyday life.

36% of those who responded to the survey are worried that in the coming years Romania could be involved in a military conflict.

In the event of a NATO-Russia military conflict, 54% of Romanians believe that our country should get involved.

Also, 72% of those who responded to the survey are of the opinion that Romania should spend more money from the state budget on defense. Regarding conscription, 44% would agree to such a measure, while 38% said they would volunteer/reserve in the army if the war in Ukraine escalated and involved member states NATO.

The vast majority of Romanians consider it a good thing that our country is part of the strongest military alliance.

The IRES survey was conducted between March 24-27, on a sample of 1,058 respondents and has a margin of error of +- 3%.
