CONSTANTA: The “Gala of Lights” charity event, organized by Ovidius University

The Ovidius University of Constanța (UOC), through the Faculty of Arts, in partnership with the Art Museum and the “Dobrogea Luminata” Association, is organizing on Saturday, April 27, 2024, the “Gala of Lights”, a charity event that will take place, starting at 8:00 p.m. at the Constanța Art Museum.

The gala will begin with a concert performed by soloists of the Canto Musical Interpretation specialization and the Vilanella Choir of the Music specialization within the Faculty of Arts.

At the “Gala of Lights” more than 60 works of art, made by Romanian visual artists, will be auctioned, and the sums from the purchase of the paintings will be awarded, in the form of five scholarships, to talented young people with limited financial possibilities.

The scholarship winners will be selected following an analysis carried out by a committee made up of: university prof. dr. Daniela Vitcu, dean of the Faculty of Arts, associate professor dr. Lelia Rus, director of the Constanța Art Museum, lect. university Dr. Florentin Sîrbu, director of the Museum of Folk Art in Constanța and president of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania, Constanța One Branch, Costin Stroe – president of the “Dobrogea Luminata” Association and university associate. Dr. Ovidiu Felipov, manager of the charity event.

“The “Lights Gala” represents one of the first initiatives of this kind by the Constanta community, an approach that brings together the artistic environment and the audience in a dynamic event, an event through which we aim to change mentalities. Art is the heart around which the living organism of the Citadel is built, and its existence and evolution are the consequences of the involvement of each one of us in the life of the community”, says university professor.
