The new Metropolis metro train, produced in Brazil, has arrived in Bucharest, as seen in the images posted by Metrorex.

The Metrorex company published the first images of Alstom’s new Metropolis train on Thursday. The gasket arrived at the Berceni depot in Bucharest on Wednesday night.

“Today, 25.04.2024, at 1:30 a.m., the new Metropolis train produced by Alstom Transport SA arrived at Berceni Depot”, Metrorex announced on Thursday.

According to the cited source, the train with the code 1402-2402, named “Giurgiu”, is part of the batch of 13 trains destined for Highway 5, purchased based on the contract concluded between Metroex and Alstom, on December 2, 2020, following the legal procurement procedures.

The contract has a total value of 103,244,383.49 euros, Metrorex also states.

“The new Metropolis trains have, according to the specifications in the specification, state-of-the-art equipment, such as:

– internal and external surveillance cameras with recording and transmission to the driver of the images from the wagons;

– display of the direction of travel on the sides of all train cars;

– dynamic LCD type displays inside the carriages with the dynamic presentation of the route map and other announcements;

– alarm systems in case of emergency, equipped with intercom for communication between the train driver and passengers;

– places specially arranged for people with disabilities, including wheelchair users;

– cooling and dehumidification installations of the air introduced through forced ventilation in each wagon;

– LED type lamps for lighting the wagons;

– anti-graffitti film to protect the windows of the cars inside and outside.

Metropolis metros have a capacity of 1200 passengers

Each train has 6 carriages and 216 seats in a longitudinal arrangement, and the maximum capacity is 1200 passengers.

“Once arrived at the Metrorex depot, the new “Giurgiu” train will be checked and prepared for the stages of tests and specific tests.

The samples and tests necessary for the approval by the Romanian Railway Authority of the first train will be carried out according to the test program and the safety regulations in force.

After completing the tests and obtaining the approval, the “Giurgiu” train will travel 10,000 km, after which Metrorex will receive the train produced by Alstom Transport SA and put it into operation with passengers”, the Metrorex press release states.
