New blocks are being built in Pitesti. Investment of 5.5 million euros.

Mayor Cristian Gentea said this morning: “We are in a period where care for those around us, the concept of help and the desire to do good are felt stronger than ever.

Beyond the large development projects, of millions of euros invested in infrastructure, education and public service systems, the administration also has a strong component of social responsibility.

We have not neglected it for a moment and have tried to cover a wide range of needs, from those related to living spaces for families and young people, to those related to medical assistance and psycho-social counseling, while directing our attention to children, the elderly and categories in different risk groups.

5.5 million euros, money from PNRR will be invested for the construction of two new blocks. These will add up to 80 apartments, with an average area of approx. 60 sqm/apartment and are to be intended for young specialists whom Pitesti wants to keep at home or to attract.
We are building these two blocks on Smârdan street and in Războieni.

55 studios and 4 apartments have already become social housing through the transformation of Dormitory C3 within the “Dimitrie Dima” Technological High School. 1.96 million euros, funds obtained through the Social Housing Program, were invested in this total transformation.

391,000 euros, POCU funds, were invested for the rehabilitation of the Coremi social housing block, the works ensuring the improvement of living conditions for 200 people.

For each of the 99 studios, the living space was extended by approximately 10 sqm. The electrical network was extended in the new premises, cladding works were carried out in order to increase energy efficiency, as well as repair works.

Beyond these non-refundable funds, we invested 266,200 euros from the local budget to connect a number of 90 consumers who live in the Coremi social housing block and who were at risk of being left without electricity.

Also, a Community Multifunctional Center was established that will offer medical assistance, recovery activities, information and psycho-social counseling, support for people in risk groups.

For the purpose of the urban regeneration of the marginalized areas in the Pitesti municipality, the green spaces were rehabilitated and playgrounds were created for the children of Războieni, in the Coremi area and in the vicinity of the “Dimitrie Dima” Technical College.

The documentation related to the construction and equipping of two new dispensaries in the Negru Vodă and Războieni Districts is ready and submitted to the CNI.

We secured subsidies for social assistance associations and foundations, their value in 2023 being 77,840 euros.

We continued granting free public transport to students, ticking off, in 2023, a 34% increase in the amount allocated compared to the previous year.

We contribute annually to providing a warm meal to needy people in Pitesti, providing in parallel – for almost 600 beneficiaries – packages of food and hygienic products”.
