Senator Tanczos Barna (UDMR) declared on Wednesday that, without an administrative reform, the administration in Romania will suffocate, stating that whoever comes to govern from December 2024 must understand that from January “they must cut themselves to the bone and do reform”.

Tanczos Barna stated in the show Romania Politică from Prima News, that he does not want to end up in a situation where Bucharest decides, analyzes and reorganizes as was done in tourism, “and 17 million Romanians, who are not from Bucharest, suffer from this cause”.

“In a study carried out on a sample of 26,000 European citizens, they were asked what they think about Brussels, which is the capital of the EU. To give you an idea of how far this capital has distanced itself and broken from the reality of the EU, it turns out that 63 % of citizens believe that Brussels has no idea what is happening in Europe, and almost 30% neither know what Brussels is doing nor are they interested. I would not like to end up in a situation where Bucharest, somewhere in an ivory tower, decides, analyzes and reorganizes as it was done in tourism, does the harcea-parcea, and 17 million Romanians, who are not from Bucharest, suffer from this cause. And in Europe, and in Bucharest, and in Brussels, we must keep these simple things, the basic principles, and know what is happening in the country, what are the needs in each institution, in each county, what is the potential of one county or another county and decide accordingly”, said Tanczos.

He stated that in an election year no reorganization can be done, this approach being impossible.

“Without administrative reform, the administration in Romania will suffocate, without this reform it is no longer possible and anyone who comes to govern from December 2024 must understand that from January they must cut themselves to the bone and reform”, emphasized the UDMR senator.

He criticized the reorganization project of the county tourism agencies, which foresees, for example, the subordination of Iasi, Botoşani, but also the municipalities of Alba Iulia and Târgu Mureş, to Constanța, which thus becomes another capital of Romania from the point of view organizational.

“If we end up with 16,000 secondary or tertiary credit orderers being reorganized according to these criteria and there will be no coordination at the Government level and no long-term vision, we will end up with each reorganization being decided by the director of an institution and having centers regional in Timişoara for Iaşi, in Constanţa for Alba Iulia, in Satu Mare for Craiova and be a total riot. Many files for tourism were submitted in Constanța, but that does not mean that you move all the power to Constanța and that there should be more files and more support for tourism in Constanţa and that you no longer have for tourism in Transylvania. You don’t have Satu Mare, you don’t have Bihor, you don’t have Timisoara. You have Brasov, Ploiesti and Constanta. Is this decentralization? Covasna belongs to Braşov, Harghita, the neighboring county, belongs to Constanta. I didn’t understand”, mentioned Tanczos Barna.
