Another young Romanian woman, diagnosed with liver cancer and lymph node metastases, was saved by doctors in Italy at the end of January 2023.

Mihaela Todireanu, 31 years old, who has a 10-year-old daughter, was diagnosed with liver cancer with metastases in the lymph nodes. Italian doctors at the Ismett Clinic in Palermo performed a liver transplant on him and thus saved his life.

The young woman fell ill with Covid-19 and after a few days she started having severe stomach pains. After the necessary medical investigations, he was informed that he had liver cancer. A cruel diagnosis.

But Mihaela’s mother-in-law, who is a medical staff in Italy, helped her to be hospitalized in a hospital in Milan. Long treatments followed, which only prolonged his life because the only real salvation offered him was a liver transplant.

In this regard, she was accepted to a hospital in Turkey, but the costs exceeded her economic possibilities and she had to wait. The chance came from the Ismett Clinic in Palermo, which at one point had a compatible donor for Mihaela.

“I got a call on January 17, at a very late hour, from the hospital and they asked me if I could get to Palermo in a few hours for the transplant, because they had a compatible donor with me. Unfortunately I was not able to arrive at the times indicated by the doctors, but I arrived on January 18. The same evening I was called again, because another compatible donor was found. I got to the hospital, they did tests all night, and at 8:30 they put me in the operating room“, said Mihaela Todireanu.

The transplant operation lasted 13 hours, and the Romanian mother returned home to her little girl.
