President Klaus Iohannis stated, when asked about the fact that, for the third consecutive month, Romania has the highest inflation in the EU, and those from the European Commission say that the budget deficit could reach 7% of GDP at the end of this year, that despite these conditions regarding high inflation, “we had economic growth”.

Klaus Iohannis also said that “it is clear that certain measures would be very good, but they are difficult to take in an election year, but these matters are also aware at the Government and coalition level, and I am convinced that the recovery will be quite fast, maybe surprisingly fast”.

“Now I wouldn’t want to enter the Government’s area, but even in the conditions of quite high inflation, you are right and it would be good if it came down as quickly as possible, we had economic growth. In perspective, I think that Romania will perform well economically and I am convinced that, after all the elections we have this year, we will have a Government that will know how to quickly recover both the growth area and the inflation area”, said Klaus Iohannis , questioned about the fact that, for the third consecutive month, Romania has the highest inflation in the EU, and the European Commission is of the opinion that the budget deficit could reach 7% of GDP at the end of this year and what trajectory it sees for the Romanian economy , on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace, in the joint conference with the President of the European Council Charles Michel.
