“Last year, on June 1, the first park of the Military District and the longest linear park in Europe received its first visitors. Then the first phase was inaugurated, 630 meters long and spread over 4.5 hectares. The entrance is from Str. Lujerului, between Plaza Mall and Cora Lujerului. Today, less than a year later, the second phase, between Cotroceni Station and Doina Cornea Blvd., is being put into use. It has a length of 580 meters and an area of 3.5 hectares, of which one hectare is occupied by an urban forest. Also in the last year, the first phase of the park was widened and expanded by half a hectare, where a space dedicated to quadrupeds was set up”, announced the City Hall of Sector 6.

The park is linear and stretches on either side of the railway line, which has been covered with wood and marl.

Mayor Ciprian Ciucu says that this is the largest park opened after the Revolution.

If the first section of the park, inaugurated last year, has more space to relax, a large playground and an artesian fountain, the second section, inaugurated on Sunday, has more functions, having two playgrounds, a pump track , a fitness area, an area for hammocks, sports field, table tennis, teqball tables, smart gazebos, with free WiFi and sockets where you can connect your laptop and work outdoors, a market, a drydeck fountain, a area where 30 flags fly (27 of the EU states, plus a flag of the Republic of Moldova, the EU and the City Hall of Sector 6). Another novelty is that the railway line was no longer covered with a deck, but with marl, after the deck kept coming off or lifting on the first section.

The park also has a cycle path almost 600 m long, to which another 600 m is added from phase I.

In phase 2, 2,500 shrubs and thousands of flowers were planted, and the surface of the green space is 5,093 square meters, with an automated irrigation system”, informed the City Hall of Sector 6.

For phase II, the investment was 15 million lei including VAT, and for phase I – 13.5 million lei.
