The prominent pro-war broadcaster on state television, considered one of the regime’s main propagandists, threatened Britain and France in two separate shows, “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” and “Sunday Night with Vladimir Solovyov.” Julia Davis shared excerpts from these shows on the X platform, formerly Twitter.

“The British will have been eradicated by nuclear strikes”

In the first broadcast, after political scientist Vladimir Kornilov said that the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph had openly written that the Russian people were responsible for the war and should be judged, Solovyov replied that “no one will be judged after the war is over, because until then, the British will have been eradicated by nuclear strikes”.

Solovyov then asked rhetorically: “Who will judge us? The country that until that moment will be buried under a radioactive wave?”.

Kornilov countered that he hoped “it will not come to a nuclear war.” “There won’t be a war, the radioactive tsunami will wipe it off the face of the earth,” Solovyov continued.

In the second show, Solovyov criticized Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, after she said that Russian and Belarusian athletes “are not welcome at the Olympics in the French capital”.

“I want to remind this nasty Nazi beast that today marks 210 years since the Russian army entered Paris. Then and now, we don’t really care if you’re happy to see us or not. Whenever we have to destroy you, we will,” Solovyov said.

Vladimir Solovyov:

The idea that Russia might strike NATO countries in response to the aid and weapons they have provided to Ukraine in the ongoing war has been held by Solovyov and many other Russian officials regularly since the start of the invasion in February 2022 .

Putin said in September 2022 that Russia was prepared to use nuclear weapons to defend its “territorial integrity”, stating that “this is not a bluff”.
