This is what the data of the General Directorate of Registration of Persons in Mureş show at the end of February.

Out of 6,613 minors who do not have an identity document, 6,220 turned 14 in previous years.

The request for the issuance of the identity card must be made within 15 days of turning 14 and is an obligation, says Codruţa Sava, general director, DGEP Mures:

Within 15 days of reaching the age of 14, the minor, accompanied by one of the parents, or, as the case may be, by his legal representative, has the obligation to request legalization with an identity document at the local community public service to record to the people who serve the place of residence. At the end of February, in Mures county, we have a number of 6613 minors who had the obligation to request this first identity document and did not do so.

Among the reasons cited by those who did not present themselves for the issuance of the identity card is the departure from the country or to another city.

Failure to fulfill the obligation to request an identity card within the legal term is a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine.

Documents required to issue an identity card for a minor who has turned 14:

The application for the issuance of the identity document, signed by both the minor and the parent/legal representative, the original birth certificate, the identity document of one of the parents or the legal representative, original, document with which the proof of home address is made , the marriage certificate of the parents or the divorce certificate accompanied by the parental agreement/final/irrevocable court decision of divorce, as the case may be, in the situation where the parents are divorced, in the original, the decision regarding the placement of the minor, as the case may be, the document with which the proof of payment of the value of the identity document.

In the situation where the parents have different domiciles, the application for the issuance of the identity document is signed by the parent with whom the minor has domicile, under the law.

For the minor who, although he was entrusted by a court decision to one of the parents and permanently lives with the other parent, the declaration of consent of the parent to whom he was entrusted is requested, from which it can be seen that he agrees that the identity document of the minor should be entered the address where he lives permanently. The provided declaration can be given at the counter, in the presence of the staff of the community public service for records of persons. In situations where the parent cannot appear at the counter, the declaration must be authenticated by the Romanian public notary or by the competent foreign authorities. In the latter case, the statement will be presented translated and legalized.
