Vendors in the market shy away from giving details about the situation. However, the producers claim that the price is steep because there is a huge amount of work behind their cultivation. For their cultivation, the greenhouses are heated, and the costs are high.

State aid for tomato growers

Romanian greenhouse tomato growers benefit from state aid. I can receive 1,500 euros for 1,000 square meters for tomato cultivation in protected areas.

The government provides a financial grant for the partial compensation of losses in the tomato culture in protected areas established in December 2023 – the first quarter of 2024.
