The director of the water and sewage operator in Gorj, sentenced to two years in prison, with suspension, for embezzlement

The director of the company Aparegio, the water and sewage operator from Gorj county, was sentenced by the Târgu Jiu Court to a two-year prison sentence, but with the suspension of the execution of the sentence under supervision and the establishment of a two-year supervision period.

During the period of supervision, Pătrășcoiu has the obligation to comply with several measures, among which are the presentation to the Probation Service at the Gorj Court, receiving visits from the appointed probation counselor, announcing changes of residence or workplace, as well as communication of information and documents necessary to control his means of existence.

The court also ordered the defendant to attend a social reintegration program run by the Gorj Probation Service and to perform community service for two years working days at the Târgu Jiu County Resource and Educational Assistance Center or DGASPC Gorj .

In addition to these measures, the defendant was prohibited from certain rights, such as the exercise of public or management functions within legal entities under public law, for a period of one year, which means that he will no longer be able to hold the position of director of Aparegio, the water and sewage operator from Gorj county, which offers these services in the municipality of Târgu Jiu and in many other towns in Gorj. The sentence can be appealed within ten days.

Prosecutors’ accusations

Traian Pătrășcoiu was sent to court by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu Jiu Court for embezzlement in 2022.

Traian Pătrăşcoiu is accused of having approved the making of illegal payments for an apartment listed as an office.

According to the indictment, he ordered, by signing the payment orders, illegally, that payments be made from the bank accounts of the Aparegio company for the furniture and the payment of the utility bills regarding the house in Târgu Jiu where his personal adviser, Ion Iliescu, lived. the damage being in this situation over 18,000 lei.

The apartment was intended, by contract, for “offices”, but it was used as a residence by Ion Iliescu in the period 2016-2019, after the company spent 43,000 lei in order to modernize it.

The law enforcement officers also found that an invoice contained false data. “During February 2016, through the defendant GAC, he caused the defendant PR to attest to untrue circumstances regarding the products delivered by invoice in the amount of 6,700 lei, more precisely instead of the products “bed, mattress, nightstand and chest of drawers” were mentioned “cabinets and chests of drawers”, knowing that the initially issued invoice, with the same number and date, could not be paid, because its content was in contradiction with the object of the contract concluded between Edilitara Public SA and SC Aparegio SA Invoice in value of 6,700 lei, which was fraudulently issued during February 2016, the entry note and difference statement was drawn up and it was paid by payment order”it is also stated in the indictment drawn up by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu Jiu Court.
