“GrowWise”, the device that will revolutionize Romanian agriculture, invented by a group of young Romanians

During the “Food you Trust” International Symposium, the Scientific Senate of FDVDR, in partnership with the R&D Food Research Institute, hosted the workshop “The competitive advantage of technological innovation”. The GrowWise device, developed by six promising young people, was also presented here: Augustin Babii, Bogdan Brăileanu, Briana Filimon, Alexandra-Maria Morar, Alexandru Pop and Victor-George Sabo. This presentation was part of “Inovaliment”, the FDVDR program dedicated to innovation in the food field.

“GrowWise represents an innovative solution in Romanian agriculture, being a complex system that uses sensors and algorithms to monitor the health of the soil and plants in real time. This device allows farmers to obtain detailed information about humidity, temperature and the level of essential nutrients, thus facilitating an efficient management of resources and reducing the impact on the environment.

“In the last seven decades, the nutritional quality of fruits and vegetables has degraded considerably. A main cause of this phenomenon is the lack of use of fertilizers, which complete the nutritional supply of the soil. Using the GrowWise device, the user receives real-time alerts and personalized recommendations for improving the quality of the plant’s growing environment. Thus, by using the GrowWise technology, farmers can save resources such as water and fertilizer, while optimizing the quality and quantity of their harvest”, explains Alexandra-Maria Morar.

The presentation of the GrowWise device at the “Food you Trust” Symposium underlines the continuous effort of the FDVDR and the Scientific Senate to promote research and innovation in the food field, with the aim of addressing global challenges related to sustainability and food security.

Through this project, FDVDR and the Scientific Senate reiterate their constant support for innovation and sustainable development in Romania, emphasizing the vital role of young researchers in building a healthy and accessible food future for all. In order to support and promote the new generation of talented and innovative young people, FDVDR initiated the “100 young people for the development of Romania” campaign, an approach aimed at highlighting and supporting the extraordinary potential of young Romanians”.
